Fine jewellery designer
Talkative
Shinobu’s lifelong jewelry love was inspired by her mother's adornments, which she describes as “design-oriented rather than brand-conscious.” Shinobu who grew up in Japan and studied graphic arts at university there, worked as a graphic designer and artist before founding talkative in 2008.
True to her brand name, Shinobu speaks dynamically, with the exuberance of one who designs, adorns and delights. “I like to infuse my jewelry designs with positivity, wit and elegance rather than eccentricity,” she says. “I want to bring a little wit and sparkle to the life of anyone who lives in their own unique way, regardless of lifestyle or age.”
Made in dialogue with master Japanese artisans, TALKATIVE jewels contain Shinobu’s commitments to “functional beauty, and the people who wear my jewels or give them to others.”
As Shinobu recounts, “Jewelry can be a reward, it can symbolize proof of love, friendship or an important moment in one’s life.” Equally important, “Jewelry can also just be something beautiful that makes you happy.” The mystery, adventure, beauty and memories of human existence—jewelry can embody all of these, and more. “I think that wearing jewelry pushes you forward,” she adds. The high frequency emotions and actions that jewelry inspires in her serve to activate forward motion. As she relates, “Putting on jewelry or seeing jewelry makes me feel like, ‘Come on, let’s go out! Let’s get started!’”
